The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him.
They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well.
At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly.
Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well.
He was astonished at what he saw.
With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.
As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up.
Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!
MORAL :
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt.
The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up.
Each of our troubles is a steppingstone.
We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up!
Shake it off and take a step up.
Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

i just loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeee christmas.
the mood will never go wrong.
the girls have already decided on pressies and the day we're going out to celebrate this wonderful day.
ok it's kinda early to get into the christmas-y mood.
but just look at those decorations that are up!
aren't they just too lovely to ignore?
anyways, going to school has been a drag recently.
lets talk about yesterday.
harmony was just a revision,
going through the past topics,
doing some exercises
----end of class----
then we made our way to n.i.e.
with the privilege of being driven there
so we were the first to reach
and we realised that nie food is darn cheap
super super super cheap
call me sua ku or whatever
we never got a chance to eat there before yesterday was because by the time harmony ends, we'd be starving.
so we'll usually eat first before heading for nie.

my eyes were on the verge of closing during nie lesson
we did composition.
as in, not the written kind
we just played whatever was told by mr stead and we composed
lesson ended rather early.
took a bus out with jwennie n joby.
ah that's when this part pissed me off.
i wore contact lenses to school yesterday
but since it was a long day, my eyes couldn't take the dryness and i felt super uncomfortable with them on.
so i was telling joby n jwen (while we were in the bus) that my eyes are gonna close anytime due to the contact lens.
then there were these 2 ladies, A & B.
B told A, 'contact lens also wanna say' (it's the actual phrase that she said)
then B proceeded to scrutinize me
A was a nicer lady though
jwen told us this after we alighted from the bus.
well at that time i was super tired from the long day
and hearing those stuff got me pissed.
headed to woodlands with jwen but we met those 2 ladies in the train
lady B started staring at me while i walked past her.
she again side-glanced at me while i was sitting diagonally opposite.
while lady A looked as if she can't be bothered with what her friend was doing.
seemed like i offended lady B by my contact lens
ah. whatever.
i skipped aural lesson this morning
overslept.
went on time for history tutorial
dr kan seemed to be in a bad mood today
she told us off for talking.
and yes, there's her work to be completed by dec 14.
sight-singing lesson was the best lesson today
the instrumentalists had to get their instruments to class today
and they played christmas songs together.
that explains the christmas-y mood.
i'm super tired and i need to sleep.

saturday's wedding dinner was bad enough.
since i didn't know most of the people there,
all i did was to eat eat and eat!
well, the food was GREAT.
so how can i resist such good food?
sunday's dinner with soymilk was also fulfilling
we slacked in church for like 4 to 5 hours?
before going off dinner at beach road.
steamboat.
the food was again great.
and to end that anniversary dinner, we had dessert - tang yuan.
if you don't understand that, go read your primary school textbook.
ok, i'm just joking.

probably due to the LACK of sleep.

i haven't had enough sleep over these past few days.
saturday's sleep was awaken by a call from my paternal grandma.
slept late on saturday night since the wedding dinner ended way late
and woke up early for sunday's service
since i was doing the slides.
woke up at 6am this morning.
can you believe that?
how long ago was it that i woke up so early in the morning?
well, my bro had to go for check-up at the hospital.
due to some low blood count leading to other stuff found in his body, etc.
not really sure of the exact thing coz it seemed rather confusing.
and that does not mean i do not care for him.
coz i do!
haha. but it's nothing serious.
so as you can see, my weekdays were packed.
so there's no way i could get down to work.
today's choir went past rather quickly.
met up with my bro & aaron tan for lunch.
then we went to watch happy feet.
a rather disappointing show.
yeah, the penguins are super cute!
when i first saw that golden village rated it was some frightening scenes.
i couldn't understand why since the penjuins are all so cute.
but after watching the show, yeah it's indeed rather scary.
well, other than that, i think flushed away's better.
it's just a personal opinion since i prefer comedy to frightening shows.
no performance class today.
they changed it to having us go watch the concerto competition.
so i'll wish all the concerto competitors (whoever you all are) best of luck.
see? i give moral support (even though i wasn't present)!

it's so irritating to not be able to tell people about what i've been doing.
lol. rather bimbotic huh?
anyways, i just bought a great deal of stickers yesterday.
14 bucks on stickers. nvm, they'll appear on my lil cards, schedule book, etc.
k-box with the s-twins, aaron tan and wong and my mummy.
and it was my mummy who called them along!
she only told me in the afternoon after she arranged with all of them.
we had a grrrrrreat time!
sang till 10+ before heading home.
short entry since i've gotta get ready for the wedding dinner tonight.
there's also the chalet that the people from st john organised (yes i was from st john!) tonight.
but i can't go, haven't met those people for a looooong time.
anyways, soymilk's anniversary dinner's tmr at 6pm!

and when they returned after their 12 days, the SOYMILK cell was formed. they met up every other week at different homes of each soymilkian. everyone was given a chance to facilitate. then came more people who were added to the cell. eg. grace, veronica, irvin, danny, jeremy. during this one year, some of them have gone for internship and returned, while currently andris, veron, irvin and danny are still doing their one-month internship there. one has left for japan to further her studies but will be back this december for Christmas celebration.
the many birthday celebrations, last year's Christmas gathering at cheryl's, spending the day at JB visiting the one and only malaysian soymilkian, kong jo, going up to Petaling Jaya to visit the youths there, Port Dickson camp with the youths from other churches (singapore, malaysia and america), spending those days when people from japan & chiangmai churches came down, soymilk was never absent.
throughout these 12 months, everyone from soymilk has indeed grown alot. they've helped those who were in need, spending time praying for one another, thought of how each birthday girl/guy gets the special treatment, etc.

yeah, no big deal eh.
lol. i've been at it since saturday la.
lets see, tuesday again.
i am totally drained out.
the weather was sweltering hot before nie class started.
but by the time lesson ended, it was raining muffins and pies.
anyway, we did the recorder today.
and i tell u, i totally dislike the sound of a recorder.
the cheapo popular recorder that i bought refused to produce a high F#
how irritating.
but never mind, today's the last i'll see of that recorder =))
oh yeah, i SHOULD curb my habit of simply-raising-my-hand-whenever-i'm-tired-of-taking-bus/mrt.
it's a bad bad habit.
just that sunday after church, i couldn't stand the heat while waiting for my bus, i simply flagged a cab, and there goes 10 bucks.
daddy suan-ed me when i claimed taxi fare from him.
hurhur.
i ALMOST took a cab to school yesterday and today.
coz since lessons start at 11, the weather's rather hot when i'm at my usual bus stop.
so, the tendency to flag a cab is super irresistable.
and we'll usually cab in and out of nie every tuesday, despite the surcharge of 2 bucks after 5pm.
not today though.
we survived through that long bus ride.
it takes about half an hour to get to nie from boon lay bus interchange.
long journey which we slept through.
and today, we experienced what it's like to climb that flight(s) of stairs. (jwen has a photo of the stairs)
now you know why i'm so tired?
not to mention that looooooooong train ride i had to take.
great, i'm getting lazier as the days go by.
no no no no no. i must not be lazy anymore.
especially when it comes to assignments.
i need to go watch tv now =))
aural, history tutorial, platform, principal study and sight-singing.

and i wasn't late for class yesterday.
that's one thing about lesson starting at 2pm
i tend to 'count my time' wrongly
but, yesterday was an exception =))
reached school at 1.15pm.
lunch-ed with koonie, jwen and aud.
arrived at the classroom to find that we had no chairs.
our tutorial group's rather packed with all the pianists
whereas the instrumentalist group seems rather empty.
i did my composition work early in the morning =))
see, told u i'll get my work done.
but anyways, he collected our work and we were called out randomly to explain what our poem means.
some hilarious moments though.
we had to talk about our first musical experience for band direction.
yeap, 2 hours on that.
anyways, the homework for this week is toppling over soon.

- 2 quotations for band direction

so here goes..
Thursday
composition lecture was rather short
we had to come up with a few notes
then he talked about inspiration, how to write a melody, etc.
yes, homework was given.
5 motivic ideas based on 5 different moods.
i tend to forget that there's harmony tutorial every thursday, ever since last semester.
so anyways, there was harmony tutorial.
this time, with mr yap and not karen
which means no more coming to class late, handing in work late, not doing work...
not much of a choice since he has to assess us, moe students.
went shopping the whole afternoon with jwennie.
bought those lil stuffs.
more nice and pretty papers *which means more notes from me!*
well since we wanted to shop more, we ended up taking a cab back to school.
ah hah! the 'smart' me brought the wrong book for history lecture.
and that book weighed a ton!
it's all about 20th-century music this semester.
expressionism, impressionism, neo-classicism, nationalism, modernism, practically all the 'isms', new music history, eccentricity, dissonance, and whatnots.
and of course, it's back to copying tonnes of notes!
watched a video on some ballet thing(?)
most of us left at 6.15, some others stayed back to continue watching.
to think we thought she forgot about giving us homework.
her email came promptly at 7pm with the homework attached.
went for some light shopping with mummy.
bought a dress for auntie joyce's wedding tmr. =))
there's sth wrong with the north-east line.
it's been breaking down rather often recently
so it chose to conk up again last night.
we boarded the train at 8pm.
and the train stopped at every station for at least 15-20 mins.
it was only at serangoon that we decided to get off.
by that time, it was already 8.45pm.
hurhur.
the other trains behind were also affected
and most people got off at serangoon as well.
all the standing and waiting in the train got me pissed and tired.
Friday
i was late today! finally eh?
my nothing-ever-goes-right-when-i-am-late theory has been proven once again.
left my house at 1.15pm this afternoon since compo tutorial was at 2pm.
so the bus that brings me to the mrt station took 20mins to come.
the train took more than 5 mins to arrive.
well, i reached little india at 1.45pm.
again, the bus was late! it only came at 2.05pm.
joby smsed me to go for the later class since dora got chased out by dr goh.
it's super sickening la.
a few others joined me at the later class as well.
thank God dr goh wasn't pissed.
more homework was given.

grabbed a bite before going for concert band direction class.
spent the 2 hours discussing on how to form a wind band.
2 assignments were given already.
- get quotations of instruments from 2 suppliers
- 2 visits to a school band and to work with them
therefore, i need lobang.
anyone's conducting any school band?
alright, that's about it for these 2 days.
and i already have a list of assignments waiting to be completed.
school is sure efficent when it comes to handing out work.
no cell tmr since there's a wedding & those who are having their Os and As.
it's been a while since i went to my grandma's place.

the earliest lecture starts at 10am.
which is a very good thing, leaving me with more sleep.
so since it starts at 10am, it ends at 6pm practically everyday.
but today's the worst day.
i'm feeling so drained.
the afternoons are the worst to get by.
since the weather's not very good, i tend to get very sleepy.
i was almost half dead when history tutorial ended at 12.
the amount of work is still as scary as ever.
the first set of work will be given out during history lecture tmr.
hurhur.
ps was rather dreadful today.
not that i dislike attending ps lessons la.
it's just one of those days when you just wanna sit there and stone
instead of going for classes and doing stuff that you're supposed to be doing at that moment.
yes, today was ONE of those times.
i totally had no mood for anything whatsoever.
played through the first 2 pages of all 3 pieces.
left the room feeling very dejected.
i've gotta buck up this sem since we dun have much time left.
then i realised that jwen, joby and my sight-singing books were missing.
i checked koonern's locker three times, samuel's locker 2 times, and the practice rooms around school.
the last i saw of those books was one month ago.
so i can't remember where we put them
joby couldn't remember as well.
jwen was having ps, so i couldn't ask her.
heh heh.
that's when my thinking cap started thinking all over again.
and i remembered, charmaine's locker!
yeah, the books were quietly sitting in there all the while.
that's the problem when we don't have a locker of our own.
they should make more lockers fullstop
sight-singing lesson was probably the best time of today's long day.
did christmas songs again.
come, all ye faithful and deck the halls
at least, i was much more awake.
ah yes, korean dramas songs are usually in dorian mode
haha, that's what steph aud jwen n i realised during sight-singing lesson.
some of the exercises sounded so much like korean songs.
call us the korean fanatics. >.<
composition lecture's supposed to start at 9am on thursdays.
but, dr goh so kindly changed them to 10am for the rest of this semester!
muahaha!
that left us feeling very pleased and contented.
just came home from cell and dinner.
today's rather chaotic.
10 children in total.
imagine the noise and everything.
boy, was i glad when i left.
haha. actually the babies were much quieter compared to those aged between 7-10.
compo and history lectures for tmr.
a 5-hour long break in the middle.

haha. i was early for harmony lecture.
not bad for the second day of school eh.
i'll try to be early everyday for this week. trust ME!

lunch at mos burger with the girls.
followed by nie class.
continued with keyboard harmony today.
very different from what we did last week.
last week, we played for mr stead individually (which means no one else can hear me play except him)
but this week, we were given a song each to play.
yeap, and we had to teach the class how to sing the song.
i was rather nervous since mr stead gave me an indonesian folk song to teach.
the melody was rather simple, we had to think of the accompaniment ourselves.
but, the lyrics for the song i was given was in malay.
yeah, so imagine me teaching a song in a language that i've never spoken before.
it wasn't that bad after my turn ended.
mr stead was rather pleased with what half of us did.
the other half will continue next week.
and we've gotta bring a recorder as well.
mine's long gone, so i've gotta buy a new one.
aural, history tutorial, platform, ps and finally ending with sight-singing for tmr.

when u're rushing for time, the bus will be late, the train will be late.
i take an hour to reach school when i'm late.
but like this morning, i left my house at 9.45am.
the bus came when i reached the bus stop, the train came when i reached the train station.
and tadah! i reached school in half an hour!
so sickening right?
when u're on time, all the wadeva-transport that's available comes on time.
but, when u're late, nothing seems to go right!
choir was terrible
not the songs nor the singing.
it's the hotness that we all felt.
usually it'll be freezing cold whenever there's choir.
ah! that's when i'll forget to bring a jacket.
but when i remember to bring it, it'll be freaking hot.
just like this morning.
i tell u, it was so frustruating.
then it chose to rain after choir.
we were all wet by the time we got to bk for lunch.
performance class was alright for a start.
a short 45-min video.
oh yeah, poor jwennie darling is still limping ah.
and that spray thing she uses, haha, smells sarsi-like.

while waiting for samuel to arrive (he took ages to do so)
i went walking around and found this newly opened boutique at the second level.
mother garden
they sell those miniature kitchen sets, dressing rooms, cabinets, and other pretty stuff. they have this particular section where it's all pink and strawberry-ish.
i stayed in there for a bit trying to decide wad to get.
everything's so nice in there la.
koonie esp will love this shop. joby as well eh, for the strawberries?
haha. oh wells, i got this strawberry pencil, 2 handphone accessories and a pouch for tissues. yeap, that will 'train' me to bring tissue paper out =))
after a loooooong wait, samuel finally came.
fairul seemed rather shy when we went looking for him.
took some photos at the sky garden.
well, when samuel's around, a camera will definitely be clicking away somewhere.
lunch at the food court and fairul joined us after his work ended.
oh yeah, i found out sth which i never knew before!
a rather shocking thing perhaps.
we were at coffee bean when we saw 2 police-lookalike guys on those 2-wheeled-whatever-they-are-called machines.
those guys were in yellow from head to toe, a rather funny sight.
i just knew that their grand opening will be on dec 1.
more gimmicks, more of those yellow guys, more of those white models u see on vivo's advertisements, blah blah blah, on that grand opening day.
the train ride home was a long one.
samuel decided he should spend quality time with fairul, so they took the east-west line. oops, did i just give u guys a wrong impression of them?
well they protrayed that impression right at vivo itself.
haha! fairul had his hair styled by samuel. but i think he deeply regretted it.
it's the last friday of this one month holiday.
time seemed to just sneak away quietly without me knowing.
joby ended her sms with, 'i'll see you in 68 hours'
how sad to be reminded that school's starting.
no ice, no cold stuff, no tea, no whatever-that-will-cause-cramps for the next 3 days. so sickening. period.

girl, i feel the exact same way as u do.
well, i guess all girls will have the same sentiments.
it's darn irritating to get stared at, especially by men.
it so makes me wanna just dig their eyes out.
just that i lack that guts to do it.
was on the way to school this afternoon.
took the bus (a double-decked one) from little india to nafa.
i was seated somewhere near the back.
u know those where 2 rows of seats face each other, and there's another one right at the back?
yeah, i was at the seat that faced another.
so this indian guy came up and he first stood at the empty space near the tv mobile
somehow i turned and he caught my eye attention.
then he walked to the back and sat at the last row.
which means he can see me and i can see him.
and this sickening freak started smiling at me.
oh gosh! i was so damn irritated la.
but luckily in front of me sat a mother and a daughter.
i prac flew out of the bus when it reached my stop.
then on my way home just now, i got stared at by a guy of around early 20s (?) when i merely walked past him at the bus interchange.
just my luck when he boarded the same bus as me.
he continued to stare even when i was sitting down.
luckily i didn't have to stay long on the bus.
the bus stop's not very near my house
so i gotta walk a distance
and there was this group of ah bengs sitting around the void deck and there's no way i can avoid them
true enough, they stared again.
i got kinda freaked out as the route to my house is kinda deserted.
but there was nothing i could do except to quicken my pace.
it's not the first time that such people appear near my house.
from wad sherm says, the people from her sec school, sengkang sec, love to hang around the void decks.
the other time when i was on my way home, there were 2 guys on bikes.
they were quite a distance away from me, just talking to each other.
but after a while they started cycling towards my direction.
(i get freaked out rather easily) and they had the guts to cycle round me.

ah yes, that reminded me of another incident.
this time i was with jwen.
class just ended and we were walking to the bus stop
when we met 2 black Americans (i think)
they were damn scary as well, since one kept staring at jwen n the other kept staring at me.
even when we were already at the bus stop waiting for the bus.
and our bus took ages to come la.
jwen n i were totally freaked out, coz they just stared and stared like it's the most natural thing to do!
hurhur. it's insulting to get stared at in such a way.
u know what i mean, right?
it's not an accidental glance.
they stare right into ur eyes and thus making you feel very uncomfortable.
i just hate it.
that's why when it's after 9, i'll take a cab home
so it'll send me safely to my house, instead of having to walk that route.

i just clipped off my nails that grew over this hols.
a rather painful experience.
but i dun suppose dr lim would prefer to hear nails clattering away on the piano tmr more than what the piece is to sound like, right?

i spent my day rather interestingly.

and we left for plaza sing only to find out that it opens on friday.

and decided to hop on a bus that took us to the airport.
yes, that's when my ez-link card embarrassed me.
i use concession every month.
but i forgot today's the 1st of nov
and i didn't get it when my mummy reminded me.
so yeah, it's still my fault.
see, that's the problem when u dun listen to your parents.
the bus ride was long.
i think my butt bone is gonna suffer real bad from all these sitting on trains and buses and whatnots.
i'm exaggerating a tad too much eh.
lil christabel never fails to brighten my day whenever i see her.
she's soooooooooo sweet la.
i just love her to bits.
whenever i'm with her, she'll make me draw flowers/smiley faces/and whatever character she wants on her hands.
and she'll make me draw on my hands too.
so now my left n right hands have stuff on them.
well at least it'll make me a bit happier when i'm playing that brahms' rhapsody =))
